Individual Counselling in Bendigo

A calm, collaborative space to breathe, reflect, and move forward

Counselling is a space to breathe. A quiet room where your story is held with care, where hope has time to stand up and try again.

I offer individual counselling in Bendigo, supporting adults and adolescents who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward. My approach is integrative and pluralistic, which simply means we shape the work around you. You set the pace. You stay in control. We decide together what is most helpful, and we adjust as your needs change.

I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship strain, work stress, and major life transitions. You do not need the perfect words. Come as you are.

What to Expect from Counselling

In our first session, we will map what matters most to you. We will name your goals, your strengths, and the changes you would like to see in your life.

From there, we build a counselling plan that fits you. Some sessions feel practical and skills based. Others are reflective and meaning making. Both are welcome.

You can expect warmth, respectful curiosity, and clear explanations of any approach we use. Consent and choice are central. If something is not working, we change it. If you need to slow down, we slow down. And if you need a glass of water before the hard part, we pause and pour one. Small kindnesses count.

A Collaborative Counselling Process

Therapy works best when it is a partnership.

You bring your lived experience, values, and insight into your own life. I bring training, structure, and a steady, trauma-informed presence. Together, we notice what helps, what gets in the way, and which next steps are worth trying between sessions.

We check in often, adjust the work as needed, and keep your goals in view.

Counselling Approaches I Use

No single approach suits everyone. In individual counselling, I draw from a range of evidence-informed therapies, chosen to suit your preferences and the challenges you want to work on.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Practical tools that link thoughts, feelings, body cues, and actions. We build coping skills, test unhelpful patterns, and practise new ways of responding.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Clear goals, small next steps, and attention to moments when things already work a little better. Progress is measured in simple, useful ways.

Parts Work

Gentle exploration of different parts of yourself, including protective parts and younger hurt parts. We grow compassion, reduce inner conflict, and strengthen inner leadership.

Existential Therapy

Space to explore meaning, choice, responsibility, freedom, and the deeper questions that often sit beneath anxiety, grief, or life transitions.

Impact Therapy

Creative and multisensory strategies that help insight land and stick. We may use visuals, simple props, or structured exercises to support change.

If you are ever curious about how a particular approach works, I will explain it clearly and make sure it feels right for you.

Trauma-Informed Counselling

While trauma is not the focus for everyone, I work from a trauma-informed counselling framework. This means safety, choice, and nervous system regulation are always prioritised.

For some people, counselling may include gently exploring past experiences that continue to affect the present. For others, the work stays firmly in the here and now. We move only at a pace that feels manageable and respectful.

Your Role and Mine

  • You choose the focus, pace, and what feels safe to explore

  • I provide structure, skills, and a calm, non-judgemental presence

  • You decide what to try between sessions

  • I help refine the plan and keep it achievable

Counselling is not about being fixed. It is about being supported while you find steadier ground.

Safety, Respect, and Confidentiality

You can expect professional boundaries, careful record keeping, and respect for your privacy. We will also talk about how to manage strong emotions between sessions so you feel supported throughout the process.

Session Flow

A typical counselling session may include:

  • Arriving and settling with a brief check-in

  • Agreeing on the focus for the session

  • Working with the approaches that fit you

  • Reflecting on what was helpful

  • Setting one small, realistic step to practise

  • Closing in a way that helps you leave grounded

Who I Work With

I provide counselling for:

  • Adults of all ages

  • Adolescents

  • People experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or burnout

  • Individuals navigating relationship challenges, work stress, or life transitions

  • Those seeking meaning, clarity, or emotional steadiness

You do not need to have everything worked out. Counselling can help you find your way forward.
