Fees and Practice Policies

You’ll find information about fees and practice policies below. These are also discussed together during your intake session, so you have the opportunity to ask questions and understand how everything works before continuing.

All policies align with the ethical and professional standards of the Australian Counselling Association and are reviewed annually to ensure they reflect current best practice.

At Collaborative Connections Counselling, my work is guided by research, clinical evidence, and a commitment to person-centred, trauma-informed care. These policies help create a counselling space that is inclusive, safe, respectful, and clear for everyone involved.

I believe transparency supports trust. Clear policies ensure the service remains sustainable and accessible, while also protecting your autonomy and wellbeing throughout the counselling process.

Above all, you remain in control of your therapeutic journey. My role is to support you with care, clarity, and professionalism as you work toward your goals.

Note about fees and missed appointments without suitable notification

Initial Intake Session

The initial intake session incurs no fee.
This session provides an opportunity to meet, ask questions, and explore whether working together feels like the right fit.

Individual Counselling

Standard individual counselling session (50–60 minutes):
$143 (incl. GST)

Extended EMIT session (90 minutes):
$214.50 (incl. GST)

Eye Movement Integration Therapy (EMIT) sessions are typically longer to allow sufficient time for preparation, processing, and closure. The extended session length reflects the care and pacing required for this work.

Couples Counselling

Assessment Phase (per couple)

The assessment phase provides a clear and balanced understanding of your relationship before ongoing couples therapy begins.

It includes:

  • Gottman Connect questionnaire and administration:
    $220 (incl. GST)

  • 90-minute joint relationship session:
    $308 (incl. GST)

  • Individual sessions (three × 60 minutes):
    $220 each (incl. GST)

Total assessment phase fee:
$1188 (incl. GST)

This comprehensive assessment ensures couples counselling begins with a clear understanding of your relationship’s strengths, challenges, and goals. It also allows us to confirm that couples therapy with Grant is appropriate for you at this time.

Ongoing Couples Counselling

Following the assessment phase, most couples continue with regular sessions to deepen insight and practise new communication skills.

  • 60-minute session: $220 (incl. GST)

  • 90-minute session: $308 (incl. GST)

Payment and Cancellations

Sessions are payable at the time of appointment by card or in advance by invoice.

48 hours for a cancellation is preferable. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice incur the full session fee, as this time is reserved exclusively for you and preparation has already occurred. Once payment has been made, counselling may then resume.

Please refer to the Fees and Cancellation Policy for further details.

A Note on Transparency

Clear fee and policy information helps support informed choice and trust. If you have any questions about fees, session length, or what might be most appropriate for you, these can be discussed during your intake session.
